Terms and Conditions

Lessons

Lessons are 1 hour long which includes approximately 1 hour of tutoring (including teaching, practice questions, time spent in “warm up” activities, reviewing progress and over viewing assignments).
The decision on how to best use instructional time will be made by the Tutor based on the Student’s individual needs and abilities.
No further fees shall be charged for traveling or preparation time of the Tutor. The Tutor may, on occasion, request parents to purchase materials but Parents may elect not to purchase materials in which case the Tutor will use an alternative material with the student.

Fees and Cancellations

Fees shall be calculated at a rate of £40 for A Level lessons and £35 for GCSE lessons per session of tutoring.
Fees may be adjusted from time to time and shall become effective after having given the Parent 30 days written notice.

Lessons will be charged at the agreed rate per hour, payable half-termly in advance, by bank transfer on or before the 1st lesson of each half-term.

Fees for any lessons arranged on an ad-hoc basis are due by bank transfer at least 24 hours in advance of the lesson.

If there are any lessons you are unable to attend then the Tutor must be notified At least 2 weeks in advance. A maximum of 2 further cancellations per term are permissible; if this is exceeded then the Tutor reserves the right to terminate tuition so that the slot can be offered to someone else. Any lessons cancelled by the Student, or their Parent/Guardian, with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged in full. This notice period allows the slot to be offered to someone on the waiting list.

If the student normally has face-to-face lessons but has an illness (such that they would be expected to stay away from their place of education/work), or is unable to travel to the lesson venue, then no face-to-face lesson will take place, but an online lesson will be offered as a substitute. The Tutor is under no obligation to offer an alternative lesson slot for any reason.

If the Tutor is obliged to cancel a lesson then either the lesson will be rearranged for a mutually convenient time or that lesson will not be charged.

If a student is late for a lesson then the lesson will commence at the time of arrival and will finish at the usual finishing time.

Lessons will continue until a mutually agreed termination date, subject to two paid lessons’ notice on either side. Any overpayment will be refunded. Both parties reserve the right to terminate lessons should they no longer be considered beneficial to the Student.

Obligations and liability

The Tutor undertakes to do all preparation prior to lessons and to structure lessons
in such a way as to optimize time to the benefit of the Student.
The Tutor will provide specialist teaching resources.
The tutor has a current DBS check, teaching qualifications and references which are
available to the parent, should they wish to
see them.

The Tutor shall keep confidential all information of the Student and shall contact
other parties involved in the education of the Student only if given written permission
by the Student/Parent to do so. (See below)

The Student/Parent undertakes to assist the Tutor in identifying problem areas in
which the Student needs specific tutoring.
The student agrees to be punctual and prepared for each session, bringing their own materials needed for each tutoring session (e.g. pen, pencil, books (where
applicable), notes, calculator, paper, ruler, protractor, etc.).

It is expressly understood that the Student retains the services of the Tutor as an
independent contractor and not as an employee. The Tutor shall be responsible for
her insurance and for all statutory declarations and contributions with regard to
income tax and national insurance.

Where the Student is a legal minor, the Parent/Guardian shall enter into this tutoring
contract on behalf of the Student and shall accept and agree to all the terms and
conditions contained herein on behalf of the Student.

While the Tutor will endeavour to ensure that the Student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed, and the Tutor cannot be held accountable for the academic success or otherwise of the Student. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Tutor accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss or damage, foreseeable or otherwise, including any indirect, consequential, special or exemplary damages arising from the use of the Tutor’s services or any errors or omissions in the contents of the Tutor’s learning materials.

Proceeding with enrolment with RSL tutoring’s services indicates acceptance of the above terms and conditions, and also of the Privacy Policy
